Test Format

Texas Essay Exam

The Texas Essay Exam consists of 12 essay questions to be completed in two, 3-hour sessions, with each session covering 6 questions. Topics covered include the following Business Associations, including Agency, Corporations, Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies and Professional Associations (2 essays), Consumer Rights, including DTPA and Insurance (1 essay), Family Law (2 essays), Real Property, including Oil and Gas (2 essays), Trusts and Guardianships (1 essay) Uniform Commercial Code (2 essays), and Wills and Administration (2 essays). Cross-Over Topics are tested only as elements of questions on other subjects and include: Bankruptcy and Personal Income, Corporate, and Estate & Gift Taxation Cross-over topics are included where appropriate as an element of questions in other subjects such as Family Law, Real Property, Wills & Estate Administration, etc.
