How to Use

Congress.gov General Search Instructions

1. To change the legislation, choose one from the selection list next to the search entry box. When you use advanced search, legislation including bill summary, status information, and full text is searched.


2. When you use the quick search, the current legislation is the default search.


3. Once Congress.gov has populated search results, users may narrow search results by using a variety of factors displayed on the left-hand side of the search results. Also, users may search within the existing results to further narrow a search.

Updating

Congress.gov is updated in real time and updates occur immediately after the information is entered into the computer system.
